Warmest Easter wishes from the Summer School Poland team 🐣
Did you know you can go hunting for gnomes in Wrocław? 😄 These cute little buggers are spread all around the city and popular game is to try to find as many as possible. We even have an app for that! When coming to Summer School you don't have to look far - Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny we Wrocławiu has it's own tiny fellow, he's called Ekonomek and stands proudly on our campus, not even trying to hide 😉
Today spring officially starts! 🌷🌸🌼🌿 It means Summer School is only one season away. It also means you get to know another polish tradition! For all kids in schools 21st of March is when they get to skip classes and most likely get away with it. Officially it is never a free day but it has become such a tradition most schools doesn't punish their pupils. 📌 Unfortunately it doesn't apply to university students. Seems that at some age you should be serious about your education... or we already skip so many classes we don't need a special day for it 🤪 One thing we can promise - you won't want to skip classes during Summer School! Way to interesting to even think about it 😉
Dublin Gazette has chosen alternative city break destinations for 2019. We think you already know what appears first on their list... But they write: Been to Krakow? Try Wroclaw! 🤩 And what a funny coincidence, during our summer school you will see both, Wrocław and Kraków! 🚌 Exactly in the middle of your two weeks stay in Poland you will go on a weekend trip to Kraków, a city where we used to have a dragon but now we have tons of pigeons fed with obwarzanki, typical food from Kraków 🥨 But we won't tell you more, you will have to check what obwarzanek is by yourselves (we recommend by tasting it) 😉 To not take all the glory from our previous capitol we need to add Kraków is the City of Kings and a true pearl of Poland with impressive architecture and a charming atmosphere 👑 If curious you can check the article here -> https://dublingazette.com/dublinlife/travel/city-travel-48284/
International Women's Day coming to an end, how does it look in your country? 🧐 In Poland you could see plenty of men buying flowers or chocolates for their girlfriends, mothers and even colleagues at work. Tastes are diverse but tulips remain the most popular choice for years 🌷🌷🌷 All the best to all the girls! Today we celebrate your achievements and you have a lot to be proud of so shine on 😊
Today in Poland certainly the sweetest tradition - Fat Thursday! Happens also in other European countries but for some reason polish people celebrate it with most enthusiasm...😁 The custom declares that on Fat Thursday everyone should eat as many 'pączki' as possible (for good luck of course). Pączki are polish donuts, big and round, filled with many different kinds of stuffing and covered with various toppings 😍 Don't worry, you can try them in summer too! Pączki are available all year round but on Fat Thursday you can buy it literally everywhere and with special stuffing. Enjoy a little bit of polish custom and treat yourself to something sweet today 😉 After all, Fat Thursday is all about feasting, even if you can't have a few pączki.
